Google requires a minimum of 50 product reviews total across your store (not store reviews, and not 50 per product; the total across all products combined). Source: Google Merchant Center Help.
After your review feed is connected to Google Merchant Center, star ratings typically appear on Google Shopping within 2 to 6 weeks. Google processes feeds daily but propagates ratings gradually across its Shopping network.
The Product Ratings Interest Form is a one-time application that grants permission to upload review feeds directly to Google Merchant Center. You provide your Merchant Center ID, business name, homepage URL, and contact details. For the aggregator question, select "Yes, but I'd like to submit the feed from a supported partner directly in Merchant Center myself." Google can approve your application within minutes on the same day or within a few business days. Once approved, a "Product Reviews" option appears in your Merchant Center.
Yes. With Review2XML you can one-click auto-sync your Judge.me reviews (no export needed) and we build a Google-compliant feed automatically. We connect it to Merchant Center in one click through Google's official Merchant API, or you can paste your hosted feed URL. Prefer a CSV? Export from Judge.me (Reviews > All Reviews > Export > CSV) and upload it instead. Either way, submit the Product Ratings Interest Form first (one-time, often approved same day). The same works for Loox, Yotpo, Okendo, and more.
Google requires a Product Ratings XML feed following their Product Reviews schema specification. The XML must include: reviewer name, review timestamp (ISO 8601 format), star rating (1–5), review content (minimum ~10 characters), product name, product URL, and at least one product identifier (GTIN, MPN, or SKU). Review2XML builds this feed for you automatically, whether you auto-sync your review app, connect a Google Sheet, or upload a CSV.
Judge.me and Yotpo can auto-sync directly to Review2XML with no export needed. To use a CSV instead, each platform has an export in its Reviews section. Loox — Shopify Admin > Apps > Loox > Manage Reviews > Product Reviews > Export to CSV. Yotpo — Reviews > Moderation > Total Reviews > Export to CSV > All reviews. Okendo — Settings > Import/Export > Reviews > Export. Stamped — Reviews > All Reviews > Filter by All Time > Download All Reviews. Junip — Reviews > Product Reviews > set date to All > Export > Export all reviews. Reviews.io — Settings > Export Reviews > Product Reviews > CSV (Start Up plan and above). Trustpilot — Manage reviews > Product reviews > Inbox > Export (Premium plan required). All exports produce CSV files that Review2XML converts to a Google Shopping feed automatically.
No, but you need at least one product identifier per review. Google accepts GTINs (barcodes/EANs/UPCs), MPNs (manufacturer part numbers), or SKUs. GTINs provide the best match accuracy because they are globally unique. If your products don't have GTINs, ensure your SKUs in the review feed match the SKUs in your Merchant Center product feed exactly. Review2XML validates these identifiers during conversion and flags any missing values.
The fastest way to get product-review stars on Google Shopping: go to review2xml.com, enter your store URL, connect your reviews (one-click auto-sync from Judge.me or Yotpo, a Google Sheets link, or a CSV export), and connect to Google Merchant Center in one click through Google's official Merchant API. Your feed then auto-syncs daily and your first 50 reviews are free. Prefer to do it manually? The complete step-by-step process below still works with Judge.me, Loox, Yotpo, Okendo, Stamped, Junip, Reviews.io and Trustpilot Premium.
Prerequisites: at least 50 product reviews total across all your products, a Google Merchant Center account, and a live product feed before applying.
Google Merchant Center is free and is where you manage how your store appears on Google Shopping. You need it to upload both your product feed and your review feed. Visit merchants.google.com, sign in with your Google account, enter your business name and country, then verify your website ownership. On Shopify, the free Google & YouTube app can set up your Merchant Center account automatically.
Before Google can show your reviews, it needs a product feed — a list of all your products with their names, URLs, prices, and product IDs (GTINs/SKUs). On Shopify, install the Google & YouTube app to sync products automatically. On WooCommerce, use the Google Listings & Ads plugin. Custom stores can upload a feed manually following Google's product feed specification. Google takes up to 10 business days to approve your products.
To submit a review feed to Google Merchant Center, you need Google's permission first — a one-time form that takes about 5 minutes. You need at least 50 product reviews total before applying. Fill out the Product Ratings Interest Form at support.google.com/merchants. For the aggregator question, select "Yes, but I'd like to submit the feed from a supported partner directly in Merchant Center myself." Google can approve your application within minutes on the same day or within a few business days. Once approved, a "Product Reviews" option appears in your Merchant Center.
Export your product reviews as a CSV file from your review platform:
Go to review2xml.com and enter your store URL — Review2XML auto-detects your business name, logo and country. Connect your reviews by one-click auto-sync (Judge.me, Yotpo), a Google Sheets link, or a CSV upload, and it maps every field to Google's Product Ratings schema automatically. Your first 50 reviews go live free. Preview your product cards with their star ratings before anything goes live, then unlock all your reviews with a paid plan. Your hosted feed auto-syncs daily, so there is no monthly re-upload to keep it active.
Through Google's official Merchant API, Review2XML can push your feed straight into Merchant Center in one click. Prefer to do it yourself? In Google Merchant Center, go to Products & store → Reviews → Product reviews → Manage product review sources → Add product reviews, choose "Enter a link to your file", and paste your Review2XML feed URL (it auto-updates, so you never repeat this). Wait 5–10 minutes for Google to validate — you should see "Ready to serve" and "Issues: 0" if everything is correct.
After your review feed is connected, the feed status will initially show as Inactive — this is normal. Google is verifying that your review data matches your website. Do not re-upload; just wait. Once your feed goes Live, most customers see star ratings within 5-7 days. Allow up to 2-4 weeks. New reviews sync automatically — Review2XML keeps your hosted feed up to date, so there is nothing to re-upload.
How many reviews do I need to get stars on Google Shopping?
You need a minimum of 50 product reviews total across all your products (not 50 per product). These must be product-specific reviews (star ratings on specific items), not store reviews.
How do I add reviews to Google Shopping for free?
The Google Merchant Center Product Ratings programme is free to join. Review2XML gets your first 50 reviews live on Google Shopping free — enter your store URL, connect your reviews, and connect Merchant Center in one click. Paid plans (from $6/month) unlock unlimited reviews and daily auto-sync.
How long until star ratings appear on Google Shopping?
After your feed is connected to Google Merchant Center, most customers see star ratings within 5-7 days of their feed going Live. Allow up to 2-4 weeks. Google processes feeds daily but propagates ratings gradually.
Which Shopify review apps work with Google Shopping?
Judge.me, Loox, Yotpo, Okendo, Stamped, Junip, and Reviews.io all work with Review2XML. Judge.me and Yotpo auto-sync directly; the rest connect via a Google Sheet or CSV export.
Do I need a GTIN to add reviews to Google Shopping?
No — Google also accepts Brand + SKU or Brand + MPN as product identifiers. GTINs give the best match accuracy, but SKUs work for most Shopify stores.
