How to Get Reviews.io Reviews on Google Shopping

Reviews.io collects product reviews for your Shopify store, but it doesn't automatically send them to Google Shopping in the format Google requires. Review2XML bridges that gap: bring your Reviews.io product reviews in (a CSV export or a Google Sheets link) and it builds a Google-compliant Product Ratings feed and, through Google's official Merchant API, connects it to Google Merchant Center in one click. Your first 50 reviews are free. This guide walks through every step.

How to Get Star Ratings on Google Shopping (Complete Guide 2026) (4 min) · Watch on YouTube

    Why Google Shopping stars matter

A star rating on a Google Shopping listing tells shoppers about product quality before they click. When your listing shows a 4.8-star average with hundreds of reviews, that signal can be the deciding factor for a shopper comparing several products. Google sources those stars from a Product Ratings feed you submit in a specific XML format, and your Reviews.io product reviews are the foundation.

What you need before you start

    • An active Reviews.io account on the Start Up plan or above (CSV export is not available on the free plan)
    • At least 50 product reviews across your products (Google's minimum to display star ratings)
    • A Google Merchant Center account linked to your store
    • A free Review2XML account (your first 50 reviews are free)

How to export your product reviews from Reviews.io

Reviews.io manages both product reviews and company reviews. For Google Shopping you only need your product reviews. The export lives in the Settings area.

Step 1: Go to Settings, then Export Reviews

Log in to your Reviews.io dashboard. In the left sidebar, go to Settings, then click Export Reviews.

    Step 2: Select Product Reviews

From the export options, select Product Reviews. Don't select Company Reviews or Questions and Answers. Google only accepts product-level reviews for the Product Ratings feed.

Step 3: Set the date range and ratings

Set the Date From field to your earliest reviews and Date To to today, so you capture your full review history. Set Minimum Rating to 1 and Maximum Rating to 5 to include all reviews.

Step 4: Choose CSV and click Export

Set the format to CSV, enter your email address, and click Export. Reviews.io emails you the file when it's ready.

Turn your Reviews.io reviews into a Google Product Ratings feed

Google Merchant Center requires reviews in a specific XML format called the Product Ratings feed, and Review2XML builds it for you. Go to review2xml.com, enter your store URL, and add your reviews by uploading your Reviews.io CSV or pasting a Google Sheets link. Review2XML reads the columns automatically (product identifier, rating, review body, reviewer name, review date) and maps them to Google's schema, so there's no manual mapping. Preview your product cards with their star ratings, then your first 50 reviews go live free. (One-click Reviews.io auto-sync via the Reviews.io API is on the way; for now the CSV or Sheets route takes about a minute.)

Add your feed to Google Merchant Center

Through Google's official Merchant API, Review2XML can push your feed straight into Merchant Center in one click. To add it yourself instead:

Step 1: Open Google Merchant Center

    Log in at merchants.google.com.

Step 2: Go to Product Reviews

In the left sidebar, navigate to Products & store > Reviews > Product reviews.

Step 3: Open Manage Product Review Sources

Click Manage product review sources, then Add product review source.

    Step 4: Add your feed

Choose Enter a link to your file and paste your Review2XML feed URL. Because it's a hosted URL, Google re-fetches it automatically, so you never have to re-upload.

Google Merchant Center, Enter a link to your file, pasting the hosted Review2XML feed URL

Step 5: Wait for Google to process the feed

Your feed shows as inactive during processing. This is expected and can take a few days.

Once Google approves the feed, the status changes to active and star ratings start appearing on your eligible listings.

    FAQ

Does Reviews.io automatically submit product reviews to Google Merchant Center? No. Reviews.io doesn't push your product reviews to Google in the Product Ratings XML format. You bring your Reviews.io product reviews into Review2XML (a CSV export or a Google Sheets link), and it builds the feed and, through Google's official Merchant API, connects it to Merchant Center for you.

Do I need a paid Reviews.io plan to export my reviews? Yes. CSV export is available on the Start Up plan and above, not the free Reviews.io plan. Check your current plan in the Reviews.io settings before following the steps above.

Should I export product reviews or company reviews? Product reviews only. Google's Product Ratings feed shows star ratings on individual product listings. Company reviews, which reflect your overall store reputation, feed into a separate Google Seller Ratings programme through a different process. When exporting, make sure you select Product Reviews, not Company Reviews.

How many reviews do I need before stars appear on my Google Shopping listings? Google requires a minimum of 50 product reviews across your products before it displays ratings. If you have fewer than 50, connect the feed anyway, and once you reach the threshold stars start appearing automatically on your next feed refresh. Your first 50 reviews on Review2XML are free.
